ECOllagen®

ECOllagen®

Product Overview

ECOllagen® is a high-quality and sustainable Type I collagen peptide derived from the freshwater fish species Pangasius hypophthalmus.

It is a naturally white powder, high in protein and nutrients, with a typical combination of 17 key amino acids. The amino acid profile is particularly rich in Hydroxyproline, Proline and Glycine.

Product Profile

Type I collagen peptides are a valuable source of protein and provide important nutrients for health.

ECOllagen® is characterised by a combination of 17 key amino acids derived from sustainably sourced fish skins from Pangasius hypophthalmus. The amino acid profile is typically high in Hydroxyproline, Proline and Glycine, which together represent approximately 50% of the total amino acid profile.

Research

Type I collagen is the most abundant form of collagen in the human body. It is found in almost all connective tissues and is a predominant component of the interstitial membrane.

Collagen protein represents approximately 90% of the total organic bone mass.

Type I collagen can be found in many types of supplements because of its wide range of potential benefits. These are not only associated with skin, hair and nails, but also with tendons, ligaments, muscle health and healthy ageing in general.

Collagen Type I is the primary component of human skin. With age, there is a loss of skin elasticity and collagen, which can contribute to wrinkle formation and changes in skin appearance.

Synergy Between Collagen and OptiMSM®

Collagen and sulphur create a complementary combination, as both nutrients support the body's natural defences and help preserve healthy collagen in the skin.

Collagen contributes to immune-mediated remodelling of the skin, while sulphur supports antioxidant defence through its role in glutathione structure and function.

A study of women aged 40–65 found that combining OptiMSM® with collagen improved skin thickness, hydration and roughness. While collagen alone reduced roughness, the effect was significantly greater when combined with OptiMSM®.

The study concluded that MSM may enhance collagen's benefits for skin health.

Manufacturing Process

ECOllagen® is manufactured under ISO, GMP WHO and full HACCP standards.

The production process is fully integrated from source to final raw material, allowing a manufacturing cycle of approximately 24 hours from fish to final marine collagen product.

This integrated process supports consistent quality and a strong sensorial profile.

Sustainability

The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard provides certification for environmentally and socially responsible seafood products.

With ECOllagen® being ASC certified, we underline our commitment to working towards a more sustainable and fully traceable supply chain.

ECOllagen® provides transparency in response to consumers' growing interest in safety, purity, environmental responsibility and traceability.

Using raw material from a single source also helps ensure consistency and quality from the beginning of the production process through to the final finished product.

Product Dosage

Hydrolysed collagen is one of the most common forms of collagen used in food supplements. Scientific research indicates that it can be absorbed effectively and is available in a variety of formats, including capsules, powders, ready-to-drink sachets and other liquid applications.

A 2019 review of clinical studies found that daily intake of 2.5 mg to 15 g of hydrolysed collagen peptides may contribute to several health benefits.

Based on published clinical studies:

  • 2.5 g per day: May benefit joint health, skin health and hydration.

  • 5 g per day: Has shown potential to improve bone density.

  • 10–15 g per day: Larger doses have primarily been used in studies investigating muscle mass and body composition.
